He has conducted comprehensive research on the Quran from various literary, content-based, and interpretative perspectives. The more we delve into his accomplishments, the more we are impressed by his immense dedication and remarkable creativity, regardless of whether we agree with his findings or not. In addressing several critical issues in Quranic understanding, including the continuity or discontinuity of verses, he proposed multiple hypotheses and arrived at theories based on his own evidence. This paper delves into the innovative approach of Richard Bell to Quranic studies. It begins by providing a concise overview of his groundbreaking hypotheses and theories regarding the revelation, compilation, and codification of the Holy Quran. Subsequently, the paper examines Bell's methodology for dating Quranic verses. To highlight the significance of Bell's contributions, the paper presents examples of his proposals for establishing meaningful connections between seemingly disjointed verses within the Quranic text. Bell incorporates all his proposed semantic connections between verses in his translation of the Quran. Interested readers can consult his work and compare his suggestions with those offered by Muslim commentators in the margins of these same verses, a tradition as old as Quranic interpretation itself. ریچارد بِل (1876ـ1952م)، اسلام‌شناس اسکاتلندی و استاد دانشگاه ادینبورو، از جمله نادر محققان غیرمسلمانی است که پژوهش‌های خود را از مطالعه‌ای صرفاً تاریخی و دربارۀ قرآن فراتر برد. او تحقیقاتی جامع از جنبه‌های مختلف ادبی، محتوایی و تفسیری دربارۀ قرآن دارد. هرچه دستاوردهای او را مطالعه ‌کنیم، بیشتر تحت تأثیر رنج‌های بسیار و خلاقیت‌های ستودنی او قرار می‌گیریم، اعم از اینکه با آن دستاوردها موافق باشیم یا مخالف. او در پاسخ به چند مسئلۀ مهم در فهم قرآن، از جمله پیوستگی یا ناپیوستگی آیات، چند فرضیه ارائه کرد و با اتکا بر شواهد خود به نظریه‌هایی دست یافت. در این مقاله ضمن معرفی کوتاهی از مهمترین فرضیه‌ها و نظریه‌های بِل دربارۀ نزول قرآن، چگونگی جمع و تدوین آن، و روش او در تاریخ‌گذاری آیات، به نمونه‌هایی از پیشنهادهایش دربارۀ چگونگی پیوند دادن برخی آیات ظاهراً ناپیوستۀ قرآن، به لحاظ معنا پرداخته می‌شود تا اهمیت نوآوری‌ها و ارزش روش او آشکار شود. بِل همۀ پیشنهادهای مربوط به ایجاد پیوستگی معنایی آیات را در <em>ترجمه</em><em>‌</em><em>اش</em> از قرآن اِعمال کرده است. علاقه‌مندان می‌توانند به آن مراجعه و آنها را با پیشنهادهای مفسران مسلمان در ذیل همین آیات که سابقه‌ای به اندازۀ تاریخ تفسیر قرآن دارد، مقایسه کنند. https://quranicafa.hiis.ir/article_196075_75766a74c7751f936107f8fc627bfcbd.pdf
